Rules of Chess
The FIDE laws of chess and the Australian Chess Federation’s by-laws for Australian Schools Teams Championships will apply.
Recording of Moves
Moves have to be recorded. In the case of the younger players, they just need to do their best and not get stressed about it.
Time Controls
60 minutes + 10 seconds per move from the beginning. (Fischer time setting).
Tie Breaks
The places are determined by adding the scores of the individual members of the team. Where teams remain tied for a place, the following tie-breaks are used.
1. Match points: 2 for a win, 1 for a draw and zero for a loss.
2. Team points scored in matches between the tied teams.
3. As in 2, but a preference given to wins on the highest board.
If the teams are still tied, then the placing is shared.
